So it is that the Bethesda teased 1960, is the newest entry in the Wolfenstein franchise, aiming for a fourth quarter release of 2013, fans are no doubt ecstatic at the prospect of a new Wolfenstein.
Now as reported earlier, the game does indeed take place in an alternate reality and according to the press release here are the details;
“The New Order is set in 1960 after the Nazis won World War II. Gamers play as the familiar American war hero B.J. Blazkowicz and are tasked with launching an “impossible counter-offensive” against the Nazi powers that have taken over the world.
Set in Europe, The New Order will have players infiltrating Nazi strongholds and battling legions of enemies, while taking control of “super weapons” that the Nazis have used to dominate earth and beyond.”
Well then, it seems that the futuristic elements do come into play due to the Nazi’s technology (Indeed in real history, the Nazi’s where always feared to be technologically more advanced than the allies and after the Second World War many of their top scientists were brought over to the United States Of America) and the much wondered ‘what if?’ scenario of a Nazi victory.
Hopefully the game will not be another generic First Person Shooter and honour the 32nd year anniversary since the birth of Wolfenstein.
