– 13/05/2013 – New gameplay video released on the official channel. (Check out the gallery for the video.)

What We Know

  • The game will be around 10 hours long.
  • There will be at least two playable characters, with more available.
  • Two inventories, one quickly accessible for healing, quick interactions, change weapons or use items, with the second inventory being for maps, notes, game options and item combinations and descriptions.

Ongoing Commentary

It’s not often you get a horror title being developed for the Vita, Ipad and Iphone that looks this good, interesting and exciting.

Forgotten Memories, announced in 2009, is being developed on the Unity engine and is being scheduled for release for the IOS and Wii U. The premise of the game is simple enough, you play as an inspector who must find Eden Swank, a young girl who has managed to escape from her kidnappers only to be stuck in this hospital. You’ll be playing as Rose Hawkins alongside her partner Nathan Howard as they too venture into this abandoned hospital, which they’ll find is full of horrors like they’ve never imagined.

Now the developers have stated that the game will mix both elements of classic and modern survival horror games, with a fear system at the core of gameplay. Add to this that there will be multiple characters who will fight beside you, each with their own personalities and weaknesses, and stand by you as you try to solve riddles and puzzles of this place as you inspect the hospital. Boss battles are further promised as well as confronting enemies.

Also it seems Eden may not be the only victim of this kidnapping as it seems there will be others who use their environment to avoid confrontation and stay alive. To what degree we have to interact with them or how many others there are remains to be seen.

Shadows are one of the enemies you can see during the most recent gameplay footage released (check out the gallery) and they will cover their weak spots if you try to aim at them, they react to light thanks to the dynamic light and shadows of the title. Only small concern is that in the gameplay trailer they seemed a little to slow though I’m sure this is just an early build and the final version will have much more fierce and quicker enemies.

Anyway like or comment if you’ve got anything to say and be sure to keep following this page as Forgotten Memories furthers its developement and nears its release date.

Shadow Of A Soul is an upcoming indie horror game which is intended to be a trilogy with the first chapter coming this year, though the game has been plagued with delays and problems which has lead to this year now being the release date. Now there is an official trailer out titled The Room – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kby3_5VG5o and what we are actually seeing are the final moments of a man as he confronts the horrors that plague him here. Whether this is Jack, the protagonist, will have to be seen.

Now the developer has stated that Jack is stealing the blueprints in an industrial espionage operation only to find once inside the complex that sounds and visions plague him before he feels that something supernatural is keeping him here for now and we’ll follow him as he explores the place encountering many more horrors. Along the way players will have to solve puzzles, search for clues to uncover the mystery.

Now the developer has made it clear that the supernatural element we’ll be facing are ghosts and though the game is linear in structure theres a possibility that if a player where to die, then the environments would be randomised upon their next attempt. Unfortunately as is the nature with upcoming games, especially the horror ones, this is a lot of the information only available to us.

Hopefully Shadow Of A Soul finally finishes development where it will be available to play on PC, Mac and Playstation.

As Becker begins his interrogations of the suspects, their combined recollections will uncover the truth about the ‘Eternals.

The premiere episode of Shadow of the Eternals begins when detective Paul Becker is called to one of the bloodiest massacres in Louisiana state history at Pleasant View Hospital.  The massacre is survived by two individuals who seemingly have no recollection about who they are or what has transpired – one a suave, clean-cut business man, and the other hardened, rogue-like biker.  Both men have seemingly lost all memory of who they are – yet they are compelled to kill each other.

Becker’s interrogation of the suspects brings us to Hungary 1610 AD at Čachtice Castle – home to the noblewoman Erzébet Bathory. Bathory is also a notorious serial killer; torturing and killing as many as 400 young women in her obsessive quest to retain her youth. You play the role of Bathory’s handmaiden and lover Clara, who is blackmailed by the authorities into gathering information about a missing nobleman’s daughter.

Ongoing Commentary

Announced in 2011, Thanatophobia is an upcoming survival horror game with three stories told through the perspectives of three different characters. These will feel like standalone games and less than pieces to an overall package, with each holding their own self contained story.

This takes place in what the developers promise to be an immersive and atmospheric world, where they want to go back to the old school style of horror with less emphasis on action and more puzzle and storytelling, solving riddles while also fighting strange enemies that draw life from the very fears of the protagonists.

The first story and protagonist is Samuel Dahevan, an ex-police officer who engages in a personal battle with on the loose child killer, the Bear. The story takes place with Samuel’s life having spiraled to rock bottom after the Bear’s increasingly violent kidnappings and failed investigation, leading him to a life of alcohol and drug abuse. One fateful rainy day when he finds himself inside an abandoned family apartment which is strangely familiar, could Samuel be closer to solving the crime after having been led here by the Bear himself.

Samuel finds a fresh corpse besides recordings from which he can only understand a few words though they bear much meaning and Samuel from then ventures deeper into the house, to try to solve the biggest case of his life. Indeed the atmosphere will rely less on shock and jump scares and more on lasting tension and psychological horror.

The environments all have that dark feel to them and tey look fresh and great to look at.

The environments all have that dark feel to them and they look fresh and great to look at.

So this is what we know for now on the first episode. The game will be in a third person mode and along the way in the game you’ll be able to have your own custom interface, dialogue sequences as well as a few combat moments and of course puzzle solving.

Thanataphobia is currently being polished in its alpha stage and stay tuned as more news from its development is being updated.

Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs – Eye On

Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs (2013)

Amnesia A Machine For Pigs Cover

The sequel to the acclaimed and terrifying Amnesia: The Dark Descent is aiming for release this 2013. The game though taking place in the same universe, places us in the year 1899 in the role of a wealthy industrialist Oswald Mandus who after a bed ridden fever, awakens to the sounds of a machine turning into action beneath him…

– 2/09/2013 – Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs the final version is being now worked on.

Ongoing Commentary

Starting off originally as a short experimental game set in the universe of Amnesia, A Machine For Pigs is the sequel to the 2010 success, The Dark Descent.

So the premise is the same, we play a character who has no recollection of his last memory as he wakes up in his bed, to the sounds of a terrible machine. So what does Machine For Pigs have to offer this time round for Amnesia fans?

Well the game’s location is the first difference, taking us away from the claustrophobic castle of Dark Descent into the world of Victorian Britain, with larger areas as well as outdoor ones and the darkness that certain aspects of the culture during such as time, deep in spiritualism, industry, science and social reforms.

The narrative as you play will not be linear timeline, as you’ll play in the present as well as the past, where some will be real while others will spark from the imagination of the characters in the game.

The aim is to allow these new environments to scare you, which means your line of sight will be broken and the developers want to create a feeling of having to explore these locations, even if you don’t want to. And though we have yet to see what our antagonists look like, the developers have stated that the A.I has been tweaked this time, making them unpredictable compared to Dark Descent.

Now while certain aspects of Dark Descent will remain, to keep the experience fresh and original, other aspects have been taken out with newer ones in their place. For instance lights and lanterns will remain though how they’re used in a different system and a way to make the player fully immersed in the game, without breaking it and this means that the inventory system of Dark Descent will very likely stay out of the game.

Watching the trailers, you can see how the core of Amnesia has remained though the environments are the key difference, as the world feels much more technological and frightening and I can’t wait to explore this Victorian influenced world as the settings look stunning and diverse.

Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs is aiming for release in the 3rd Quarter of 2013.
